...are spiffy. Currently I'm sipping coffee and contemplating a route to the Cooper-Hewitt Design Museum while listening to finches and people playing video games, and having conversations about school studies and general sunday morning banter. Our hosts have been very hospitable and kind, and I've met some pretty cool people this weekend, as well as seeing some familiar faces. Good balance of socializing and alone wandering.
I also did some decent shopping and snooping around vintage stores, and found myself eating some fairly decent sushi rolls. This has been a good trip to new york, the last time i was here, I tried to cram a lot into a short time, this time having a day or two to wander around different neighbourhoods has been a nice change of pace.
MoCCA as well has been an interesting con attending experience, there's a wide variety of stuff and wares, and I picked up some really lovely little mini-comics and posters. Good variety of t-shirts and crafts and books out there. The ingenuity of people who make little books always makes me smile.
Tomorrow I load up The Viceroy and head back to The Smoke. And this time hopefully with no hail (that was hairy to say the least). :)

..I ended up accidentely taking the long scenic route to Ottawa. The 15, if you haven't driven it, is kind of like a rural thuroughfare. Something the Greyhound would take on the gravy route through Eastern Ontario. There are places like Morton....that have 5 houses, rows of cars, ULTRAMART gas marts....and...places that sell boating things called "Bouys and Toys"
...Bouys and toys is incedentaly where we stopped to ask for directions. Turns out yes we were going in the right direction. But jeez, did i ever take the detour route. However it was a pretty drive, and somewhere in Smith Falls we ran into a parade. OK well actually we ended up sort of being the parade. It hadn't really started yet, so Aisha and Kate decided that it would be an oppertunity to play loud hip hop and wave at people. There's something horridly wrong, and yet so very right about listening to angry urban music while driving through rural Eastern Ontario. It gets even more amusing when the cars occupants are three pierced brightly hair dyed talkative ladies who like to moo at cows. At one point we realized we were having a very odd canadian moment, as we were listening to canadain comedians on the CBC while on route through the province's bread basket to the nation's capital.
And strangely enough it was something we all pretty much needed. Between running around, planning, plotting, work, emotional weirdness and other things, it was a fun breather just to get in a car and take off for the day.
True we only did spend about 5 hours in Ottawa. however we did get to see the civilization musem and take pictures of things. Plus the company as always was stellar, and on the way back I had one of the best conversations I've had in a very long time. A friend of mine once said sometimes to get a better view of where you are, you need to run away for a bit and look back at it. that's pretty much what today was.
And hey, now i know there's a town called Morton.
on that note...sleep.
